oil on canvas, 60.5 x 73 cm, 60,5 × 73 cm, signed and dated upper right, with green, "Bernea, 7.(19)92"

Both in drawing and in painting, Horia Bernea sought to illustrate the natural. However, his idea of natural can particularly be read in a philosophical key. He paints, even since a very young age, with the maturity of a scholar. Even since childhood, Horia Bernea understands and uses complex perspective, technique or composition notions. His works are not only mere representations of reality, but they also converge further away from the possibility of human understanding, towards the metaphysical. His painting style is immersive, inviting the observer to come closer to the image depicted on canvas, be it abstract or figurative. In his figurative art, Horia Bernea excels in minutiae and explosive chromatics. The paintings depicting gardens are unmistakeable. His working manner is fragmented, as he separates his colours in a plethora of short lines, which, when put together, create that compositional harmony that the artist sought to render in his entire creation.
