Ion Dumitrescu (1913-1996) a fost un clasic al muzicii româneşti care s-a remarcat prin lucrările sale de gen (simfonii, suite) tratând într-o manieră modernă teme ale muzicii populare românești. A creat muzică la peste 60 de spectacole de teatru la naţionalul bucureştean (1941-1947). Binoclul de mici dimensiuni este realizat din alamă și este decorat cu benzi din sidef care acoperă corpul ocularelor.
