Octavian Goga (1881-1938) l-a cunoscut îndeaproape pe Aurel Vlaicu (1882-1913), de care l-a legat o prietenie dovedită și de o corespondență bogată. Cei doi s-au întâlnit atât în Transilvania, cât și la Budapesta sau București. Fotografia a circulat în epocă iar pe baza acestui clișeu s-au realizat și cărți poștale ilustrate.
